The 80's and 90's are long gone but tribute bands like Appetite for Destruction
keep the experience going for all to enjoy. Word has it that these guys are
a better show than the original but that'll be up to you to decide so get down
to a show and check 'em out!
Appetitie
for Destruction headlined at The Downtown in Farmingdale with "Master
of Puppets" (Metallica Tribute Band) and "The Mighty VH" (Van Halen Tribute
Band) opening up. The band hit the stage in full costume with Slash in his wig
& top-hat and Axl in his kilt & chest protector... switching to a flannel and
shorts mid-show. These guys gave the audience what they wanted with trademark
GNR songs like November Rain, My Michelle, Paradise City and a collection
of others. Mike Ficalora (Duff) explains how much the band enjoys giving
an audience the opportunity to listen to some of their favorite GNR songs live...
and if the band wasn't together, they'd be supporting some other GNR tribute
band to get their fill.
AFD also participated in a Monsters of Mock show where they headlined
a performance at the Vanderbilt in Plainview. Other recent appearances include
Stemstock (kind of a mini Woodstock) in upstate NY and a show at
Hogs and Heifers in NYC. This is the place that inspired the movie
"Coyote Ugly". These guys are getting around and plan to expand their shows
to other states along the east coast. Find more information about Appetite
for Destruction at their website
